KENTUCKY ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

1. AGE:

	•	Basic Cosmetology 16 years of age
	•	Nail Tech Course 16 years of age
	•	Junior Instructor 18 years of age

Each applicant must be beyond the age of compulsory school attendance as set by the State. Cosmetology schools are prohibited from enrolling students who do not meet the education requirements for licensure unless they advise the student that he/she must obtain the education before he/she can obtain a license. Therefore, a student can enroll with an educational level of less than what is required at graduation, however, prior to graduation/state examination, the student must provide the school proof of proper educational level.

2. EDUCATION:

	•	Basic Cosmetology 10th grade or it's equivalency
	•	Nail Tech Course 12th grade or it's equivalency
	•	Junior Instructor 12th grade or it's equivalency

All students admitted to the program must demonstrate their ability to benefit by either:

	1.	Certification to the school that they have a high school diploma or it's equivalency followed up with documentation of education, or
	2.	Determining the student's ability to benefit from the training offered by the institution on the basis of successful completion of an aptitude test, prior to admission. Such aptitude test is approved by the Department of Education an is independently administered at the enrollment office. The school's enrollment counselor will assist you in setting an appointment for the test administration. All students are counseled and encouraged to get their GED.
